Lyme Disease Knowledge

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that can affect different systems of the body. It is transmitted through tick bites. Early symptoms include a “bulls-eye” rash that is usually accompanied by fever, malaise, muscle pains and skeletal pains. If this disease is not treated early, it can lead to the inflammation of the brain, meninges and cardiac muscles. It can also cause neurological disorders and neuropsychiatric problems such as memory loss and mood swings. Lyme disease can often be treated with antibiotics during its early stages. Late treatment is difficult and can cause disabling symptoms. Homepage image
